The NHT Information Resource Centre is the major information unit on housing and related subjects in Jamaica. It is located on the first floor of the NHT Head Officeand serves both staff and the public by addressing their information needs, particularly those on housing and related areas.
The primary functions of the Centre are:
- to provide sources of information and referrals on housing and related subjects;
- to develop a collection of information sources that meet the needs and priorities of the organisation it serves;
- to act as a repository for all NHT Research reports and other relevant documents produced by the Trust.
The Centre offers several facilities/services to its clients:
- a collection of over 8,000 volumes (Directory of Resources)
- an automated catalogue which makes retrieval of documents and information faster and easier
- close to 5,000 bibliographic records on the CDS/ISIS database system
- responses to reference queries that come in via telephone, mail or fax
- free in-library access to the public of all reference documents
- a partnership with the National Library of Jamaica to provide an Online Library Catalog
- photocopying of library material (at a minimal cost)
- up-to-date information on new publications acquired. This is done via the quarterly Accession Bulletins that are distributed to major parish libraries and selected special libraries in Jamaica.
- referrals and inter-library loans.

The stock is comprised of: reference texts & documents, encyclopedias, dictionaries, maps & atlases, handbooks, yearbooks, pamphlets, research reports, conference papers, statistical data, newspaper clippings and journals/ magazines, video tapes and CD-ROMs.
The collection includes Caribbean material on housing cost & financing; housing development projects; housing and the informal sector; housing market: needs, demand, supply; housing plans and policies; housing sector strategy; housing and women; low income housing and mortgage instruments and products.
There are over 200 reports produced by the NHT's Corporate & Business Strategy Department that date from 1976 to present. Research topics include: NHT Beneficiaries; NHT Mortgagors; Environmental Profile of NHT Schemes; Socio-Economic Profile of NHT Schemes; Housing Demand; Housing for Special Groups; Housing Cost & Financing; Squatter Settlements; Interest Rate Issues; Mortgage Loan Polices and Impact Studies.

The Information Resource Centre opens to the public: Monday - Thursday 9:00 am - 4:00 p.m. Friday 9:00 am - 3:00 p.m. Because of limited seating facility in the reading area, persons wishing to use the library are advised to call and make appointments.
